How long should I throw away milk after antibiotic treatment?
My vet treated one cow with an antibiotic injection for mastitis. When can I start selling her milk again?

Follow the milk withdrawal period printed on the medicine's label or given by your vet. It is different for every product and dose, often several days after the last treatment, so there is no single number.
During that time:
- Milk her last and keep her milk separate.
- Don't sell it, and don't add it to the bulk can. Even a little milk with antibiotics can spoil a whole can and is unsafe.
- Don't feed it to calves either.
- Write down the treatment date, the product and the date the withdrawal ends, so nobody in the family or staff makes a mistake.
If she was treated for mastitis, also check the treated quarter with a strip cup before you go back to normal milking.
